About
I’m Casper Watras, a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have spent years helping individuals with their mental health needs, concerns, and goals and have worked with individuals from all walks of life on a wide variety of topics.
In my psychotherapeutic work I utilize a number of evidence-based therapy modalities and treatments; I am particularly fond of many of the guiding principles of psychodynamics, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, and solution-focused therapy, but believe that there are so many other interventions, treatments, and tools that can be used to great effect, and which I utilize in my work.
There are many ways to create change in the way that we think, feel, and behave and there are so many ways we can better understand the experiences we have, the relationships we hold dear, and the situations we may find ourselves in. In the work I do with clients, I aim first to promote understanding of these aforementioned items and then move to explore what can be done.
My career has seen me work with a number of different mental health organizations including the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre, the Public Health Agency of Canada, the Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region, and the John Howard Society of Ottawa; I have been happy to call Ottawa my home and continue to work within the communities that I have grown so fond of.
